Easton Corbin is mourning the loss of his stepfather.
The country superstar, 43, issued a statement on his Instagram page on Thursday afternoon (Aug. 28), sharing the heartbreaking news with his fans and followers.
“I am heartbroken to share that my stepdad passed away earlier this week,” the “A Little More Country Than That” singer/songwriter wrote in a post that included a simple black backdrop. “He was an important part of my life, and I need to take a few days to be with my family as we lay him to rest.”
Corbin, who has a stacked concert schedule in the books that run through 2026, went on to add that while he takes time to focus on his personal life, he has had to cancel two of his upcoming shows, one on Friday (Aug. 29) at the Crystal Grand Music Theatre in Wisconsin Dells, WI, and the other on Saturday (Aug. 30) at Fortress Obets in Obets, OH.
“Because of this, I will be unable to perform my upcoming shows on August 29 and August 30,” Corbin wrote. “I know I’ve had to cancel several shows recently, and I want to be transparent that this has been an incredibly tough season personally and professionally.”
“I don’t take lightly the impact this has on my fans, my team, and the venues,” he continued. “And I truly appreciate your patience and understanding.”
Corbin finished his message by telling his fans and friends that he appreciates all of the “love,” “prayers,” and “support” at this time as he works to heal and give his stepfather the proper burial he deserves.
“Thank you all for the love, prayers, and support during this time. I look forward to getting back on the road and seeing you soon,” he concluded.
Corbin did not share any further details about his stepfather's condition before his passing or how he died, and not much information has been made public about his stepfather. Corbin, a native of Trenton, Florida, is the son of Dan Corbin and Delinda Bennett. After his parents' divorce, he spent considerable time at his grandparents’ farm before moving to Nashville.
How Fans Are Reacting
Although Corbin has had to bow out on some of his upcoming shows, fans flooded the comments section of his post with support and condolences over his unfortunate loss, with one person writing, “Take your time with your family and DO NOT worry about how it makes us, your fans, the venues, etc feel. Family is most important. We, your true fans, will still be here waiting to see you perform when you get back on the road, but for now, spend time with your family. God Bless all of you.”
“Sending you quiet strength and warmth as you walk through this loss. ??,” another follower commented, with another person adding, “Take all the time you need! We’re rooting for you. ??.”
Corbin Recently Had To Cancel Shows Due To Vocal Rest
The news comes about a month after Corbin announced that he had to take a couple of weeks off due to vocal rest, an order that called for a few canceled dates as well.
In a Facebook post, dated July 24, Corbin captioned, “Hey y’all. I wanted to share a quick note with you personally—I’ve been advised to take some time off for vocal rest, and as a result, we’re going to have to cancel the next few weeks of shows through August 9.”
“This definitely wasn’t an easy decision. I hate to disappoint anyone who was planning to come out, and I truly appreciate all the support you continue to show me and the band. Taking care of my voice is the best way I can make sure we keep doing this for the long haul,” he continued. “We’re working on plans to reschedule as many of the shows as we can, and I’ll keep you posted as soon as we have more information. In the meantime, thank you for your understanding and for sticking with me—I can’t wait to get back out there real soon. Much love. Easton.”
