A southern Colorado man found human remains on his property last week, and state investigators are working to identify them, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
The man who found the remains lives in Costilla County’s Wild Horse Mesa community, according to a news release from state investigators.
State investigators and staff from the 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office responded to the “remote location” on Aug. 19 and confirmed the presence of human remains, state officials said.
The victim has not been publicly identified. No identifying information about the victim, the cause of death or the circumstances surrounding the death has been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
