Ajinkya Rahane issues colossal statement after Cheteshwar Pujaras retirement

The 37-year-old India National Cricket Team out-of-favor batsman Ajinkya Rahane has made a huge statement on the retirement of Cheteshwar Pujara.

Cheteshwar Pujara, who was the last of India's Test purists, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Sunday, August 24.

The Rajkot-born batter Pujara made his Test debut for the India National Cricket Team at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on October 9, 2010, against the Australia National Cricket Team.

From thereon, he went on to play a total of 103 Test matches for the country, with his last appearance coming in June 2023 against Australia at the Kennington Oval in London.

He scored 7195 runs in his legendary career at an average of 43.60, with 19 centuries and 35 fifties, and a best score of 206*.

Cheteshwar Pujara was a batter with a classical technique who spent the bulk of his career batting at No.3 and became a mainstay of the Indian Test team for over a decade.

He emerged as a perfect successor to Rahul Dravid and played some unbelievable match-defining knocks, especially in overseas conditions, to become the team's most dependable batter in the longest format of the game.

Although there was a downfall in his performance in the latter stages of his career, he established a legacy in Test cricket that will never be forgotten. Pujara ended his career as the only Indian batter in Test history to face 500+ balls in an innings and the Indian player with the most Test wins in SENA countries - 11.
