The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced its 25-member preliminary squad for the upcoming Asia Cup and the three-match T20I series against the Netherlands scheduled later this month.
The BCB has decided to name Litton Das as the skipper for the side in the upcoming continental championship, as the team looks to begin preparations for the multi-team event.
They have also named some fresh young talents in the squad up for selection, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the all-rounder and newly announced skipper of the ODI side, has also been named in the 25-member squad despite his weak performance in the shortest format of the game.
Bangladesh Cricket Board has made some great calls for the 25-member squad, which includes Nurul Hasan, who was overlooked despite some promising performances in the domestic games. Alongside Nurul, Mossadek Hossain, who also impressed domestically, was not yet picked by the selectors.
"The available players will report for a fitness camp at SBNCS, Mirpur, on 6 August. The skill practice will begin at the SBNCS from 15 August, before the camp moves to Sylhet on 20 August," BCB said in a statement.
Following the camp, the Dutch Cricket side is expected to arrive on the 26th of August, as they will play in three T20s on the 30th of August and the 1st and 3rd of September, all at Sylhet.
Bangladesh A players to miss the preparation camp
Several among the Bangladesh players picked in the 25-member squad are set to miss the majority of the days in the preparation camp, since they are also part of the A team, which travels to Australia for a 5-match T20 series and a four-day match against South Australia.
Nurul, alongside five other players from the squad, will be absent for most of the camp, as they will face Australia in Darwin later this month and are set to leave the country on the 7th of August.
Nurul Hasan, Mahidul Islam, Saif Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, and Naim Sheikh, who are also included in the preliminary squad, will travel to Australia to be part of the series from the 9th of August.
