Hot summer conditions are expected throughout this week, with the heat in San Diego peaking on Thursday before settling back down to more normal weather for this time of year.

The temperatures will climb slightly through Tuesday, but additional warming is expected for Wednesday and Thursday.

“High temperatures on Thursday will range from the mid 70s to lower 80s near the coast to the upper 90s to 105 for the Inland Empire and 114 to 118 for the lower deserts,” the National Weather Service said in a forecast discussion.

“Highs in the mountains will be in the mid-80s at higher elevations and in the 90s to locally 100 degrees for elevations 4500 ft and below.

“Overnight low temperatures will also remain elevated, preventing overnight relief from the heat,” NWS San Diego added.

Friday will be cooler, but remain slightly above average.

Forecasters said that it is important to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous activity outside, particularly during the hottest hours of the day.

The weather will cool throughout the weekend, with low clouds expected over the coasts and valleys in the nights and mornings.
