Bruno Guimaraes grabbed Cristian Romero around the throat as the pair clashed in a friendly on Sunday afternoon.
Newcastle were facing Tottenham in Seoul, South Korea, when things turned heated towards the end of the first half.
With only five minutes to go until the break, Romero appeared to knock into Guimaraes on purpose on the edge of the box.
The Brazilian midfielder fell to the ground and instantly saw red, jumping back to his feet and racing towards his opponent.
He smashed right into Romero and then grabbed his throat, as the pair pushed eachother in a furious brawl.
Both sets of teams then rushed to split things up, with Joelinton sprinting across to usher the Spurs defender away.
Things then began to calm, but Guimaraes was still raging with Romero and he could be seen staring angrily at the Argentinian.
Play would continue a few moments later as things cooled down – at least until the second half when Joelinton elbowed Archie Gray.
The ever-combative midfielder caught Gray on the chin as he shrugged him off, adding to the heated moments in the game.
Guimaraes and Romero are more than used to brawls on the pitch, earning their ‘tough guy’ reputations in the Premier League.
The Spurs centre-back was involved in a confrontation with Man United’s Harry Maguire after the Europa League final and he was also involved in an altercation with Chelsea’s Levi Colwill last season.
Meanwhile, the Newcastle captain is often involved in controversy too, due to his aggressive nature on the pitch.

Romero would likely have taken up that offer too, but Son pulled him to the side and calmed him down.
