ROCHESTER, N.Y. – While firefighters were battling the ‘Tent City’ fire, on Lyell Avenue Thursday, Rochester Police say they detained a man armed with a hatchet.

Police officers were assisting fire crews Thursday at around 11:23 p.m. near Dewey and Lyell Avenue when they say they saw an argument involving a person armed with a hatchet at Lyell Avenue and Likely Alley. RPD detained the individual and secured the weapon.
Police say altercation stemmed from a car crash in the same area. No one involved pressed charges, so no arrests were made. There were no injuries or citations related to the incident.
Police say they are unsure if it was related to the fire.
