Goodwood 1.20 Coral Chesterfield Cup Handicap (4YO plus) 1m2f
The way CASTLE COVE cut through the pack to win at Chester was impressive and given the runner-up Grey Cuban has come out and won by over 4 lengths since the form has been strongly franked. He has been put up 8lb but that could still prove lenient and I fancy him to follow up under Tom Marquand.
Grey Cuban opposes again and with Hugo Palmer flying he could be the one to chase him home again. Defiance ran well at Epsom though and is also on the upgrade so is another one to fear.

Goodwood 1.55 Coral Vintage Stakes (Group 2) 7f
Aidan O’Brien has won this 3 times since 2014 with Highland Reel, War Decree and Battleground and he could have another nice type in DORSET. This good looking grey looked a picture on debut and he ran a race full of promise bumping into stablemate Amadeus Mozart. He put that experience to good use to win easily at the Curragh and the runner-up Benvenuto Cellini has won like a nice prospect since. He has more to come and 2/1 looks generous.
Humidity is unbeaten having made it 2-2 at Royal Ascot and while the form has been knocked since he could still be the danger. Zavateri is another one who is 2-2 and up to 7f he is also respected.

Goodwood 2.30 HKJC World Pool Lennox Stakes (Group 2) 7f
Despite failing to fire somewhat in the Commonwealth Cup JONQUIL is still of strong interest here. He impressed winning over this trip at Newbury and then went down all guns blazing to Henri Matisse in France on penultimate start. The ground was possibly too lively last time and after just a handful of starts I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t have a fair bit more to come. If he gets the gaps here he will be hard to hold out.
Kinross certainly isn’t getting any younger and he went down just a head when last seen at Haydock so if repeating that level of form could be the danger. Noble Champion sprung a surprise in the Jersey and also has a squeak.

Goodwood 3.05 Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup Stakes (Group 1) 2m
I know Scandinavia was impressive at Newmarket but everything went right on that occasion and I think he might struggle to contain stablemate ILLINOIS. Ryan Moore has picked the latter which must be telling and back down to 2 miles he should take a lot of stopping. He didn’t do much wrong second to Trawlerman at Royal Ascot and wasn’t given a hard time once held.
Scandinavia could still be the danger but French Master also looks a horse on the upgrade and with 4 wins from his last 5 starts he might surprise a few and run a big race.

Goodwood 3.45 Coral Golden Rewards Shaker Handicap (3YO plus) 5f
This is definitely one of the more competitive races of the day and as the trends suggest it pays to look away from the top of the market. SHAGRAAN is starting to attract support but he is still a big enough price to play against these. He has been running well all season and back at this venue he is definitely a danger to all despite carrying top-weight.
Redorange went down less than a length last time and is clearly in good order coming into this. Jakajaro doesn’t have the best strike rate but from a place perspective he could run a big race under Jamie Spencer.

Goodwood 4.20 British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes (2YO only) 6f
I know favourites have quite a good record in this but I can’t help but feel Naval Light is a bit short. He ran well in the Norfolk behind Charles Darwin but anything could improve in this and STELLAR SUNRISE looks decent each way value. Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy teamed up to win this last year and this colt by Space Blues has run well on both starts to date. He was sent off favourite at York so better was clearly expected. This track will suit given his debut run and with more to come I expect him to land a blow.
Of the rest High Approval is getting better with experience and despite being turned over at a short price at Yarmouth is still armed with a fair bit of potential. Anashhad is another one to note back down in trip.

Goodwood 4.55 Ridgeview Fillies’ Handicap (Class 3) 1m
Haggas is red-hot right now and the fact he often targets this race makes MAHRA’S LOVE a strong play. This filly arrives on a hat-trick and again impressed winning readily up to a mile for the first time at York latest. She can do better again and is definitely worth keeping on side for now.
Zgharta wasn’t disgraced in the Sandringham last month and impressed at Newmarket before that so if bringing her best could be dangerous. Dash Of Azure is still unexposed and is another one who can get competitive.

Goodwood 5.30 World Pool Bet With The Tote EBF Fillies’ Handicap (Class 3) 6f
I know DUBAI TREASURE was denied the hat-trick at York but she ran a big race in defeat beaten less than 2 lengths into fourth. She was just too keen on that occasion so this drop in trip should help and if they go hard and she settles better she should be the one to beat under Oisin Murphy.
Woodhay Wonder has been given a chance by the handicapper and could bounce back with a big run. Arabian Leopard was only denied a neck last time and is another one who could sneak into the frame.
