Drivers traveling on a portion of Interstate 80/294 in the south suburbs encountered significant delays following a crash on Monday afternoon.
Extensive backups were reported at approximately 6 p.m. between Illinois 394, near where the crash occurred, and Pulaski Road, Google Maps showed. Traffic on eastbound I-294, ahead of the merge with I-80, was backed up north of 159th Street.

According to Illinois State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 4:31 p.m. along the interstate west of Torrence Avenue. A vehicle stalled in the lane of traffic was struck by another vehicle, authorities said.
Injuries were being reported, according to police, but their severity was unknown.
Several eastbound lanes remained closed following the crash, however the far right lane remained open, police stated.
