Leading up to the “Back to the Beginning” concert in Aston, Birmingham, Ozzy revealed the grueling lengths he went to just to get stage-ready, despite ongoing health struggles.
Speaking on his SiriusXM show, “Ozzy’s Boneyard,” in late May, the rock legend described an intense daily routine.
“I am constantly in training seven days a week,” he shared. “I have got this guy who's virtually living with me and I am in bed by seven.”
Ozzy said he was lifting weights, biking and being coached every day in preparation. “It’s tough,” he admitted. “I’ve been laid up for such a long time... and the first thing to go is your strength. It’s like starting all over again.”
His physical comeback wasn't the only challenge — Ozzy also revealed how closely he was being monitored around the clock.
“I’m having my blood pressure taken 15 times a day,” he said. “I’ve got this device on my finger. It's a monitor to say how my heart rate is.”
Despite his health issues, including blood clots and walking difficulties, Ozzy was determined to show up for fans — even if he couldn’t move like he once did.
“I don’t think I’ll be doing much jumping or running around this time. I may be sitting down, but the point is I’ll be there, and I’ll do the best I can. So all I can do is turn up.”
Ozzy joked that while he was being pushed to the limit, he still wasn’t ready to go. “I’m just taking it one day at a time. Ask him upstairs. In my case, the one below,” he quipped.
Tragically, the iconic rocker died on Tuesday, July 22, following a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. While fans are heartbroken, many are grateful he was able to say goodbye the way he always wanted — on stage, doing what he loved most.
