Per multiple reports — and as announced by the player himself on social media — Von Miller has agreed to terms with the Commanders.
The second overall pick in the 2011 draft, Millers has played for the Broncos, Rams, and Bills.
During the 2021 season, Denver traded Miller to the Rams. He capped the season with his second Super Bowl win. In the offseason, he signed with the Bills.
Miller will play his 16th NFL season with Washington as he eyes the third Super Bowl title of his career. Washington was one win away from a Super Bowl appearance last season but lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game.
Miller, 36, spent the last three seasons with the Buffalo Bills but was released in March in a cost-cutting move that saved Buffalo more than $8 million in cap space. He recorded 17 tackles and six sacks during a 2024 campaign that included Miller serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy stemming from assault allegations. Miller signed a six-year, $120 million deal with the Bills during the 2022 offseason.
The Commanders will be hoping Miller still has something left in the tank at 36 years old. He remains a no-doubt Hall of Famer and the active career leader in sacks with 129.5, and will now be joining a defense that ranked eighth in the NFL in sack rate last season.
Behind reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year, the Commanders have the sixth-best Super Bowl odds in the NFL at BetMGM at +1800. They've been one of the most active teams in the NFL this offseason, trading for Pro Bowl offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and standout wide receiver Deebo Samuel, plus a deal with another veteran defender in linebacker Bobby Wagner.
Miller was then suspended for four games (Weeks 5-8) in 2024 for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, stemming from allegations that he assaulted his pregnant girlfriend in suburban Dallas during the Bills' bye week in 2023. He turned himself in to the police and soon after was released on bond. The case was later closed, and charges were never filed. The NFL conducted a separate investigation.
