UFC great Randy Couture was reportedly airlifted to an emergency burns unit after he crashed at a race track in Kansas City.
According to TMZ, Couture sustained first and second-degree burns, trauma injuries as well as smoke inhalation due to the accident.
The report thankfully claims Couture is expected to make a full recovery.
The accident occurred during a training run ahead of Couture’s first drive in the National Hot Rod Association.
According to the report, it is unclear what exactly led Couture to crash the vehicle, which has been totally wrecked.
The 62-year-old had recently expressed his excitement at the new driving venture, even though he had ‘no idea how it’s going to go’.
“This is a new way to tickle that competitive spirit that I’ve had most of my life,” Couture said.
“A new place for me to get competitive and make a mark in racing.
“I’ll bring all the things I developed as a wrestler and martial artist into this realm and see what we can do.
“I have no idea how it’s going to go, but I’m excited about the opportunities.”
Once Couture makes a full recovery, it will take some doing if he is to emulate his feats inside the octagon out on the racing track.
