Yashasvi Jaiswal, the sensational Indian star in the longest format of the game, has unlocked a new milestone in his short yet decorated career.
The 23-year-old Indian left-handed star went on to start his proceedings in England on a firm note, as he was the first centurion in the Leeds test. This splendid innings was followed by another top knock of 87 runs in the first innings of the Edgbaston test.
After a commanding rise in the red-ball format, Jaiswal, during his second innings of the Birmingham test, nudged only 28 runs, but these were invaluable for the star batter as he crossed the 2000-run mark for India in test cricket.
Indian rising superstar Jaiswal is the second Indian batter to have reached 2000 test runs this fast in his career.
The Rajasthan Royals opener has piled up 2000 runs within just 40 test innings, as he levels up with Royals coach Rahul Dravid as the joint-fastest to 2000 Test runs for India.
He also levelled with opener Virender Sehwag, who has the same record, while they top the chart with Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar, Gautam Gambhir, Sachin Tendulkar, and more to follow.
40 - Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, Yashasvi Jaiswal
43 - Vijay Hazare, Gautam Gambhir
44 - Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar
45 - Sourav Ganguly
46 - Cheteshwar Pujara
Jaiswal is only behind Sachin Tendulkar for this record
After his splendid innings at Edgbaston in the second test, Jaiswal got to a major milestone of 2000 international test runs on the 10th run from the second Indian innings.
Yashasvi, who was just 23 years and 188 days old when he achieved this major milestone in his career, became the second youngest Indian batter to have reached the 2000-run mark.
However, he is only behind the great Sachin Tendulkar, who was just 20 years, 330 days old when he achieved a similar milestone.
