While a Windsor minor-league baseball team owned by Future Legends didn’t complete its season this summer, the group’s two soccer clubs finished their regular seasons and one is the top seed for the upcoming playoffs.
The Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC, the men’s team also owned by Future Legends, awaits its next opponent for a playoff match next week, according to Future Legends spokesman Jordan Freemyer. The Hailstorm joined a first-year summer amateur league called The League for Clubs earlier this year.
The women’s club, the Northern Colorado Rain FC, finished its first season last weekend in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL). The Rain won the Rockies Division but is not participating in league playoffs because of players’ commitments with their college teams, Freemyer said.
Under the ownership of Jeff Katofsky, Future Legends’ managing member and co-founder, the Hailstorm previously played in USL League One. The club was in the league from 2022-24. The Hailstorm’s franchise agreement with the USL was terminated in late 2024 as Katofsky and Future Legends ownership have been caught up in a variety of financial and legal troubles relating to unpaid bills and other issues for more than a year at the in-progress complex in Windsor.
The Rain debuted in spring 2024 and played its first season in the USL W League, a pre-professional and massive league with teams throughout the U.S.
The Rain played their home matches this year at Windsor High School and at Colorado State University. The Hailstorm played home matches at Windsor High, Freemyer said.

The PBL set up a new team, the Colorado Springs Sky Sox to complete the Owlz’ season. PBL president Mike Shapiro said Monday he did not know the reason for the Owlz’ resignation.
Casey Katofsky, Jeff’s son and the executive director and co-owner of Future Legends, did not respond to requests for comment both Monday and Tuesday from the Greeley Tribune.
BizWest, a Northern Colorado business news outlet, reported the Owlz’ previous home field, 4Rivers Equipment Stadium at the Future Legends Complex, has been inaccessible since late April when the facility was shut down by the town of Windsor. The town claimed Jeff Katofsky failed to address health and safety issues, BizWest reported.
