On Air Today: Fighting Online Misinformation, Focusing on Positive ‘SHARES’ ...Middle East

chapelboro - News

Aaron welcomes UNC education professor Jeffrey Greene for a conversation about how to curate your online news feed. (That’s an important thing to do: there’s a lot of misinformation out there, not to mention slanted sources and uninformed hot takes – and studies show those things can affect your thinking even when you know they’re untrustworthy.) Greene sums up his approach with the acronym SHARES: we should limit ourselves to sources that (1) stay in their lane; (2) are humble; (3) are accountable to others; (4) are reliable; (5) are endorsed by experts; and (6) are self-regulated.
