IT’S the milkshake that saw them go viral.
And now fast food fans are gearing up to race to their local Shake Shack, after it was announced that the Dubai Chocolate shake is headed back to the restaurants.
Capitalizing on the popularity of the now world-famous pistachio flavored Dubai Chocolate, the Shake Shack drink features “real pistachio frozen custard blended with toasted kataifi”.
It’s “coated in a crackable dark chocolate shell” and finished off with a topping of “chopped pistachios and crunchy kataifi”.
The milkshake was first introduced in April, when it was sold in a small selection of stores around the U.S.
But now it will be in Shake Shacks nationwide – although there is a twist.
You can only order the shake at the counter or in a kiosk, and each store will have a limited number they can sell per day.
“Will you try this?” one person questioned in a Facebook post announcing the nationwide launch of the Dubai shake.
And one person who tested out the sweet drink is Delish’s Megan Schaltegger, who reviewed it for the outlet.
“The pistachio custard had the perfect sweet-to-nutty ratio, and the kataifi added the right amount of texture,” Megan said in her rave review.
“This, combined with the rich and indulgent dark chocolate, created a creamy take on the trend that checked every box.
“I found myself quickly abandoning the straw and diving in spoon first, all the better to fetch out little chunks of the magic shell chocolate with my pistachio custard and kataifi.”
And the positive reviews kept on coming on Reddit too, with one person writing: “Boy are these things GOOD!
“Pistachio frozen custard mixed with kataifi in a breakable chocolate shell that coats the inside of the cup.
“Tastes suuuper fresh, I really enjoyed this!”
Not everyone liked the shake though, with one admitting they give it a “5 out of 10”.
“I tried this shake and thought it was mid…” another sighed.
“I got tired of it after a few sips because the chocolate flavor is subtle and it has a weird pudding consistency compared to a standard milkshake.
“The kataifi was also stale.”
While a third pointed out the calories in the rich drink, writing: “Almost 1100 calories?!?! Sounds good but I’ll pass!”
