A foster dog who disappeared from his Parker home last weekend was rescued Monday afternoon from a trench in the Douglas County town.

Carl, a Neapolitan Mastiff, went missing from a home near South Parker Road and Stroh Road on Sunday, according to Big Dogs Huge Paws, a nonprofit dedicated to finding homes for giant dogs in need.

Then, just before 4 p.m. Monday, South Metro Fire Rescue and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office’s animal control unit responded to reports of a trapped dog just over a mile away from where Carl went missing, according to the fire agency.
