ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Saturday has brought a quintessential fall day across Western New York. We are going to keep the sunny skies as we head through the rest of Saturday evening before some clouds start to build overnight. No rain is in the forecast for Saturday evening or overnight. Lows will reach near 44 degrees for Rochester while higher elevations will likely stick with a low around 40 degrees. Winds will stay light out of the southeast between 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday does turn just a bit cloudier as warmer air starts to move into our region from out of the southwest. Because of this transport of warmer air, temperatures will push 70 degrees for Rochester with most other locations south of Rochester staying in the mid to upper 60s. An occluding low-pressure system over eastern Canada will pass far to our north. Though we will miss out on a lot of the precipitation, this does bring a very small shower chance Sunday. Most of the region will remain dry, but do not be surprised if a few light passing showers move through between mid-morning and mid-afternoon. A slightly higher chance for some light showers exists late in the evening. It will be a touch breezy on Sunday with southwesterly winds between 10 to 15 mph. Some gusts between 20 and 25 mph will be possible through the day. Winds become more variable in direction overnight and low temperatures stay in the low 50s and upper 40s for most as cloud cover increases.
Monday will bring noticeably cooler weather with high temperatures in the upper-50s. As the aforementioned low-pressure system moves off the eastern coast of Canada, very cold air aloft will move over the eastern Great Lakes and support a few lake-induced showers and clouds through the day. These are expected to be widely scattered, mostly concentrated southeast of Lake Ontario. It will be noticeably breezier on Monday with winds out of the northwest between 15 and 25 mph with gusts between 30 and 35 mph.
