With unforgettable guest roles in such iconic TV shows as The Twilight Zone, Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie, Bill Mumy was one of the most successful child stars of the '60s — even before he landed the iconic role of Will Robinson in the popular sci-fi series Lost in Space. Now, over six decades since he first appeared onscreen, the 71-year-old is still just as beloved by fans — not to mention his former co-stars.
Mumy took to Instagram this week to share a sweet black-and-white selfie with actress Elizabeth Cheshire, 58, who starred alongside Mumy in the 1975 NBC series Sunshine. As Mumy explained in his caption, while he hadn't seen Cheshire in decades, she approached him while he was "dining out" with his family and they "reconnected after 50 years."
"How cool is that?! She is lovely and warm as sunshine," Mumy wrote.

While Sunshine "wasn't a commercial success," as Mumy put it, the comments on his post proved plenty of viewers still have fond memories of the show.
"I remember the series and the movies. I had the soundtrack. How awesome to reconnect," one person wrote, with a second chiming in to say, "I remember that show! I used to watch it. You both look great!"
"This is a wonderful reunion ?," someone else declared, as another agreed, "That is the coolest encounter! ?"
While Mumy has kept a relatively low profile in recent years, he went on to launch a successful music career after mostly stepping away from Hollywood and published a memoir called "Danger, Will Robinson: The Full Mumy" in 2022. That same year, he opened about about working with Alfred Hitchcock as a child in an interview with Fox News Digital, calling the legendary director "a real jerk."
"You can only work a minor a certain amount of hours a day," Mumy explained, noting that on "one particular day" of filming the series Alfred Hitchcock Presents "the assistant director said, ‘We’re going to lose Billy in five minutes. Can we get this last close-up lit?’ I had no problems being my own stand-in for a closeup. But I was seven, and I’d been working nine hours."
When Mumy started getting restless and moving around, Hitchcock intervened in a terrifying way.
"Hitchcock was a very large presence in every way you could possibly imagine," Mumy continued. "He was always sweating a lot. And he had this black suit on with this tight tie around his neck and jowls hanging down. He was intimidating to look at. He’s huge compared to me. I was probably 55 pounds. He gets up out of his director’s chain, hovers over me. He bends down. And he says this to me in my ear, and I’m telling you, I swear on my granddaughter, this is exactly what he said to me, ‘If you don’t stop moving about, I’m going to get a nail and I’m gonna nail your feet to your mark, and the blood will come pouring out like milk.’"
Mumy went on to say that if Hitchcock "had said to me the next day, ‘Billy, I was just kidding. I was teasing,’ I probably would have forgotten about it. It probably wouldn’t have resonated with me at all. But he scared the s--t out of this 7-year-old who was starring in his show. It was incredibly scary. I just never wanted to see him again. Ever."
