FAIRPORT, N.Y. – A blood drive in memory of the “Fairport Angels” is set to take place on Wednesday at St. John of Rochester on Wickford Way. The event honors the five Fairport students who tragically lost their lives in a 2007 car crash.
The girls were on their way to Cayuga Lake to celebrate their graduation when their car was struck by a semi-truck in Bloomfield. The crash occurred just days after their graduation.
The blood drive will run from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is the largest in the Greater Rochester area. Due to its size, pre-registration is recommended.
Some of the families and representatives from the Red Cross gathered at the Fairport Little League field on Monday, where the field features a memorial to the five girls.
