Liverpool look set to strike a deal for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez this week as they send a huge £150m statement of intent to their Premier League rivals.
After agreeing a £116m deal with Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz on Friday, the defending champions are closing in on a third significant signing of the summer transfer window following Jeremie Frimpong’s arrival.
The i Paper understands that there are still issues to resolve but a package worth between £40-45m is now at an advanced stage and should be agreed by the end of the week.
In three weeks of formal talks between Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes and Bournemouth counterpart Simon Francis, the Cherries have stood firm on their valuation for the Hungary international and negotiations are now focused on how the fee will be structured.
But there is optimism on both sides that a deal can be agreed in the next few days, with Kerkez set to sign a five-year contract at Anfield.

That would cap a huge week for the Reds, who are set to complete the capture of Wirtz in a deal that could become the British transfer record.
Liverpool have agreed to pay £100m for Wirtz with £16m worth of add-ons, driving the price down from the £126m that Bayer Leverkusen were demanding.
But, like they have with Bournemouth, Liverpool worked meticulously to ensure the terms of the deal work for them.
They have benefited in Kerkez’s case from the player’s desire to join the club despite rival interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City.
The i Paper first reported in January that a deal was in the offing for the summer, with the groundwork having been laid at the turn of the year.
Liverpool are signing Kerkez to compete with Andy Robertson but the Scotland international has interest from overseas, with Atletico Madrid including him on a list of transfer targets.
Robertson admitted on international duty that he was “not sure” what the future holds for him and he is running into the final 12 months of his contract at Anfield.
He is viewed as an important part of the Liverpool dressing room and has won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup during a glittering Reds career, but Kerkez’s imminent arrival casts doubt on his next move.
For their part, Bournemouth have signed Adrien Truffert from Rennes for £14.5m to replace Kerkez.
The Cherries face their own rebuild this summer with centre-back Illya Zabarnyi the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
But despite fresh speculation that Newcastle United are exploring a deal for right winger Antoine Semenyo, there has been no contact from the Magpies over the forward, who has a £70m valuation.
