A POPULAR grocery chain is now selling a sweet treat that weighs a whopping four pounds.
The delectable food item has been famous in a major US city for years, and it’s becoming more accessible this summer.
Earlier this month, The Original Crumbs Bakeshop, a longstanding bakery in New York City, announced that its Colossal Cupcakes are coming to Kroger’s portfolio of stores.
Each ginormous cupcake weighs around 68 ounces, about 4.25 pounds, and is supposed to feed at least 20 people, according to what a spokesperson for the bakery told Parade.
Even 21 people is the recommended serving size, with about 290 calories per serving.
That means, in total, the Colossal Cupcakes are around 6,090 calories.
Nutrition facts listed on Kroger’s website confirm this.
Mia Bauer, co-founder of The Original Crumbs Bakeshop, emphasized the move to partner with Kroger came from a desire to reach more Americans without sacrificing quality.
“We launched CRUMBS to bring back the magic of neighborhood bakeries, and now we want to bring that same premium quality to local supermarkets — so shoppers can pick up fresh, delicious, show-stopping CRUMBS desserts alongside their groceries,” Bauer said while speaking with Supermarket Perimeter.
Co-founder Jason Bauer also called the move a “game-changer,” as The Original Crumbs Bakeshop would be “the first to market with a bakery item like this at the traditional neighborhood grocery store level.”
“Whether you’re planning a celebration, or looking for a last-minute gift that doesn’t scream, ‘I forgot,’ the Colossal Cupcake offers something totally unique, viral-worthy, and fun — it’s a conversation piece that turns any occasion into a sweet celebration,” he added.
TWO OF A KIND
Those who dare to take on the Colossal Cupcake can get them in two different flavors at Kroger, Dillons, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, City Market, Metro Market, or Ralph’s for $24.99 each starting June 20.
They include Vanilla Birthday Cake and Cookies & Cream.
The Vanilla Birthday Cupcake is a vanilla-flavored confetti cake with a “piñata-style sprinkle surprise” in the middle, topped with Crumbs’ beloved vanilla frosting and sprinkles.
With the Cookies & Cream Cupcake, it’s a rich chocolate cake with cookies & cream-infused buttercream filling on the inside.
On, top there’s more vanilla buttercream, covered with cookies & cream pieces.

Another sweet treat has also been going viral this year and is selling out at retailers like Trader Joe’s, Walmart, and ShopRite.
That would be none other than Dubai Chocolate Bars.
The dessert features rich Middle Eastern chocolate on the outside with a filling of pistachio cream and toasted kataifi, or shredded phyllo pastry.
There have been varying prices for the chocolate bars depending on the retailer.
ShopRite has listed the BeeMax Dubai Style Chocolate for $11.99 a piece, for example.
Walmart had it listed for twice that at $24.
Trader Joe’s sold out of their version in just hours for $3.99 per bar.
Costco has also rolled out a “refreshing” $2.99 treat at its food court just in time for summer.
Shoppers at Walmart are also buying a “game-changer” Ninja ice cream maker for the hotter months that’s had its price slashed to $136.
