For Lacey Chabert, picking her favorite Hallmark movie sounded like an impossible task when Parade first asked her to play favorites. She has an incredibly long list to choose from, having starred in a whopping 45 rom-coms and mystery movies for the network, not to mention two series for Hallmark+ (her unscripted show, Celebrations with Lacey Chabert, and her recent mini-series, Paris Is Always a Good Idea).
Chabert started working with Hallmark Channel in 2010, starring in Elevator Girl. The Party of Five and Mean Girls alum is as surprised as anyone that she’s been in so many since, from her popular Crossword Mysteries franchise with Brennan Elliott to the Wedding Veil movies with Alison Sweeney and Autumn Reeser.
But after all of those meet-cutes and solved murders, Chabert, 43, admitted she does have a couple of favorites, starting with a movie franchise that’s been full of joy for her.
“I have to say, the Haul Out the Hollys are very special to me,” Chabert said of the three holiday comedies she’s made with an ensemble cast that includes Wes Brown, Melissa Peterman, Stephen Tobolowsky, Ellen Travolta, and Eliza Hayes Maher.
The first Haul Out the Holly movie was released in 2022, introducing Hallmark viewers to a cul-de-sac of quirky neighbors who don’t mess around when it comes to holiday decor, bake-offs, and neighborhood traditions. The movie was so popular that a sequel, Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up, premiered the following year. In 2025, Hallmark surprised fans with Haul Out the Halloween, which saw new neighbors arrive played by Halloweentown alums (and real-life couple) Kimberly J. Brown and Daniel Kountz.
“I’m thrilled that at Hallmark we’ve had the chance to do more comedy,” Chabert told Parade while promoting her recent partnership with Cesar dog food’s limited-edition Pink Packs. “The first Haul Out the Holly was the first time that I think I did a real, true, straightforward, comedic Christmas movie, and I had so much fun. I mean, getting to share time on screen with all of these incredibly talented people who now have become just dear friends of mine, it means the world.”
“And I mean, I don’t know about you, but I love sitting down in front of my TV, and I like to watch something that runs the gamut,” Chabert continued. “I love to feel. I love to cry. Who doesn’t love a good cry, you know? But then I also love to laugh, and it’s a little bit of an escape. And that’s how I feel about watching those movies. Whenever I’m creating one or part of creating one, I always try and do that for our audience as well.”
All three movies are available to stream via Hallmark+. But is it possible that fans will get to revisit Evergreen Lane in a fourth movie? Chabert hopes so.
“I would love to do another one,” she said. “I know we have some ideas percolating. I don’t know if it’ll ever happen, but you know, every experience at Hallmark I’ve had — truly, I say this honestly — has been pretty joyful, pretty wonderful. But there is something about that (Haul Out the Holly) cast and that setting, being in the cul-de-sac, that was extra special. I’m so glad we had the chance to do three, and I hope another one’s in the future.”
Lacey Chabert’s Other Hallmark Favorite Hasn’t Even Premiered Yet
When naming her favorite Hallmark movies, Chabert said that her 45th — Holiday Ever After: A Disney World Wish Come True — is also right up there. The movie, filmed last December and January at Walt Disney World, is set to premiere as part of Hallmark’s 17th annual Countdown to Christmas lineup on Saturday, November 28, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
“It’s definitely at the top of the list,” she told Parade. “It was a dream come true for me personally to have the chance to be at Disney World and make a movie and do what I love. I felt like a kid again in the best way, and that is such a special feeling that I don’t take for granted.”
That movie also features a great ensemble cast including Hallmark hunk Travis Van Winkle, Disney Channel alum Christy Carlson Romano, Hollywood legend Richard Kind, General Hospital‘s Bryce Durfee, and more.
“I really think we’re going to bring a little holiday magic to people’s living rooms when they get to watch this movie,” she added. “I hope they enjoy watching it with their families.”
