Christine Baranski is sharing an exciting new update on the potential of a Mamma Mia 3.
The two-time Tony Award winner, 73, opened up about the topic while chatting exclusively with Parade on the red carpet ahead of the Season 3 premiere of The Gilded Age at Tribeca Festival in New York City on Thursday, June 12.

“You know, I just got an invitation from [producer] Judy [Craymer] to go to the reopening of Mamma Mia! in August on Broadway, and I'll ask her,” she said. “I simply don't know about a Mamma Mia 3. I think Judy, the producer, really wants it to happen.”
Baranski starred in the original film and its sequel alongside stars Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan and more.
In addition to giving an update on a potential third installment of the beloved musical movies, Baranski also opened up about what she hopes fans will get out of her Gilded Age character, Agnes van Rhijn, this season.
“I hope people will sympathize with the fact that this woman who had all of this authority and certitude about her life — suddenly her life is upended,” she told Parade. “I'm sure they'll find it funny, but I hope they also find it somewhat touching that someone who had that sense of that value system and was so certain about her life and her position in society, she suddenly [is] knocked off of her pedestal. It’s great fun to see.”
Season 3 of The Gilded Age premieres on HBO on Sunday, June 22, at 9 p.m. ET.
