RCB in trouble? Karnataka High Court takes strict action on Bengaluru stampede tragedy

The Karnataka High Court has taken suo motu notice of the deadly stampede outside Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium that claimed 11 lives and left at least 56 others injured during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL 2025 victory celebrations in Bengaluru.

The tragedy unfolded on Wednesday, June 4, in Bengaluru, where thousands of RCB fans had gathered to catch a glimpse of their champions. The Karnataka High Court bench led by Acting Chief Justice V. Kameswar Rao and Justice C.M. Joshi will hear the case at 2:30 PM on Thursday, June 5.

    With mounting public outrage and the loss of innocent lives, the matter was urgently brought before the bench by a concerned advocate demanding immediate judicial intervention into the horrifying mismanagement by the KCA.

    As reported by India TV, Advocate General Shashi Kiran Shetty is representing the Karnataka state, and he informed the High Court that action is already underway and a full report on the incident will be submitted soon.

    Shashi Kiran Shetty told the bench, “This is not an adversarial matter. We are as concerned as any citizen of the state. We will present what has been done and are open to any suggestions.”
