For a century, Belmont Park has been a cherished landmark along San Diego’s coastline — a place where generations have come together to enjoy thrills, laughter, and lifelong memories. This summer, the iconic beachfront amusement park marks its 100th anniversary with “100 Days of Belmont,” a season-long celebration running now through Labor Day, filled with events, giveaways, and nostalgic surprises that honor the park’s legacy while looking ahead.
MEMORIES LIVE ON
What sets Belmont Park apart isn’t its historic rides or lively boardwalk atmosphere; it’s the personal stories woven into its history.
“One of the most touching stories we’ve heard came from a guest in her 80s who shared that she had her first kiss at Belmont Park, under the lights of the Giant Dipper, back in the 1950s,” said Steve Thomas, Belmont Park’s president and general manager. “This year, she returned with her great-grandchildren to ride it again. Moments like that remind us that Belmont isn’t just an amusement park — it’s a place where memories are made and passed down through generations.”
That emotional connection is at the heart of this year’s centennial campaign, which aims to create new moments while honoring those already etched in time, Thomas said.
GOLDEN GIVEAWAYS
One of the most buzzed-about aspects of the 100-day celebration is the chance to win one of 50 lifetime ride passes.
“The idea to offer lifetime ride passes stemmed from our desire to create something truly unforgettable for our 100th anniversary,” Thomas said. “We wanted to mark a century of memories by allowing a few lucky guests to enjoy Belmont Park for a lifetime.”
Guests can enter by sharing their favorite Belmont memory, purchasing a “Ride & Play” wristband online, or becoming a season passholder. Additionally, surprise “Golden Ticket” moments will appear throughout the park each week, offering visitors spontaneous opportunities to win.
In another giveaway, visitors can guess the weight of a packed Subaru Forester for a chance to take it home. In partnership with Summit Subaru and Z90’s Hey Morton!, the winner will be announced live on air on Sept.13.
DEALS AND SWEET SURPRISES
Beyond the giveaways, the celebration includes plenty of specials that add flavor (and savings) to every visit:
$100 Season pass and Plunge pool deal: Ride unlimited attractions for 100 days or chill out with a $100 summer membership at Plunge San Diego, including access to the sauna, cold plunge, and family-friendly pool activities. $1 Taco Tuesdays and dollar Dipper rides: Every Tuesday, grab $1 al pastor and carne asada tacos from El Jefe and ride the Giant Dipper for a 1$. Centennial eats and sweets: Treat yourself to birthday-themed delights like birthday cake soft serve at the Dole Truck, birthday cake milkshakes at Belmonty’s, and celebratory pastries at Sweet Shoppe. Exclusive centennial merch: Retro-inspired apparel, accessories, and keepsakes are available at the Belmont Museum and Sweet Shoppe, mementos from a milestone year.PAST AND FUTURE
Belmont Park is more than an amusement park — it’s part of San Diego’s story.
Thomas reflected on continuing its legacy: “It’s truly humbling. There’s a profound sense of responsibility in honoring the rich history of Belmont Park while also shaping a future that keeps its spirit alive. Belmont is more than just rides and games; it’s an integral part of San Diego’s identity. Being entrusted with this legacy is both a privilege and a commitment to future generations who will continue to create their memories here.”
