Watch- Virat Kohli fights for Rajat Patidar with umpire; RCB captain given OUT next ball

Virat Kohli, on Tuesday (June 3), had a heated exchange with the on-field umpire during the ongoing IPL 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The incident took place in the 11th over when Kyle Jamieson was bowling to Rajat Patidar while Virat was standing at the non-striker's end. On the first ball of the over, Virat Kohli took a single to give the strike back to Patidar.

On the second ball of the over, the RCB skipper took a double before hitting the third ball for a stunning six over long-off. It was followed by a dot delivery that eventually led to the exchange between Virat Kohli and the umpire.

It was a back of length delivery from Jamieson that Patidar wanted to cut but missed out. The RCB captain seemingly wanted the umpire to call it a wide and Virat had the same opinion. He was seen signaling the umpire that the ball was well above Patidar's reach.

On the very next ball after the exchange, Jamieson dismissed Patidar to put RCB on the backfoot. It was a dipping delivery that outfoxed Patidar and went on to hit his pads.

He was given out lbw and decided against reviewing the decision. The right-handed batsman departed after scoring 26 runs off 16 balls.

    Top order failure hurts RCB

Coming to the game, RCB were on 111/3 after 13 overs at the time of writing this report. Virat and Liam Livingstone were batting in the middle for the Bengaluru-based outfit.

With 7 overs left in the innings, RCB will be hoping that Kohli capitalises on his start and convert it into a big score.

With the pitch expected to favour the batsmen, RCB would be hoping to post a 200-plus total. At the same venue, Punjab Kings had chased down 204 runs against Mumbai Indians in the second qualifier and will be fancying their chances again.
