WHAT: Board of Education meeting Monday

PRESENT: Anna Martin, William Cummings, Josh Barr, Donald Newell and Amanda O’Neill

    The board:

    • Accepted the following donations: $5,100 from the Vernarsky family to the Elementary Principal’s fund / playground in memory of Alina Vernarsky; $3,000 from Boy Scout Pack 100 to the food pantry; $500 from Artsonia to the Elementary Principal’s fund; and a $341 anonymous donation to the Hubbard Community Pool fund.

    • Accepted Vicki Rowlands’ resignation as Hubbard Middle School’s office secretary, effective at the end of the school year, and approved her as the middle school principal’s secretary, on a 251-day contract.

    • Accepted cleaner Eric Fisher’s resignation, effective May 5, and approved him as a districtwide custodian on a 260-day contract.

    • Approved paying $1,200 stipends to Chase Staunch and Brian Bosheff, who completed Pathways A through D of their required Science of Reading training and $400 stipends to Michael Brekoski, Rachel Cline, Ryan Love and Shannon Seese, who completed Pathway E.

    • Approved paying a $650 stipend to 32 staff members who completed the 2025 Summer Academy Professional Development two-day training. It will be paid from Title II-A funds.

    • Approved Diana Barnett, Kimberly Bodak, Tracey Greenamyer, Andrea Murray, Daniel Scarmack and Andrea Stamp as mentors for the 2024-25 school year. Bodak will be paid $2,000 for being the lead mentor and mentoring, while the others will be paid $1,000.

    • Approved a one-time stipend of $650 to 15 staff members for caseload documentation.

    • Approved nonrenewing Danielle Lehman as the elementary school’s evening music coordinator for the 2024-25 school year.

    • Adopted a resolution of intent to not provide career-technical education in grades seven and eight.

    • Approved 10 elementary school, 14 middle school and 18 high school employees to limited contracts for the 2025-26 school year.

    • Approved 11 employees for two-year limited contracts for the 2025-26 school year.

    • Approved granting Madison Saffels a two-year limited teaching contract as the Kraken Swimming head coach, from July 1 through June 30, 2027. Saffels will be paid $39,000 per year.
