The town of Johnstown has received a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association, marking the second year in a row it has won this national recognition.
To earn this award, Johnstown’s budget was evaluated against nationally recognized guidelines that measure the effectiveness of a budget as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications tool. The town met all of those guidelines, so it was selected from a pool of 1,700 other applicants and determined to meet the highest principles of government budgeting, according to the Government Finance Officers Association.
“Receiving the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the second consecutive year is a reflection of our team’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and strategic financial planning,” Johnstown Town Manager Matt LeCerf said in the release. “This recognition from GFOA affirms the hard work and dedication of our Staff in producing a budget that not only guides our operations, maintenance, and capital projects, but also communicates the vision and priorities of the Community as communicated by Town Council.”
The most recent recipients of the Budget Award, along with their corresponding budget documents, are posted quarterly on the association’s website. Residents can view the recipients and their budget documents at gfoa.org/budget-award-winners.
