For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Jane Kavanagh of Westfield, New Jersey has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at the University of Notre Dame beginning in fall 2027.

“I am soo excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of Notre Dame! I would like to thank my parents, coaches, and teammates for helping me through this process. I would also like to thank Coach Mike and Coach Trevor and all the staff at Notre Dame for this amazing opportunity! GO IRISH ”

Kavanagh swims for Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA and is a Junior National qualifier. She finished her long course season at Summer Juniors where she was 102nd in the 200 back (2:25.64) and 130th in the 100 free (59.30).

Back in April, she swam at YMCA Short Course Nationals. Her highest finish came in the 200 free where she touched 2nd in a 1:48.86. She also swam to a 4th place finish in the 200 back (1:58.36) and 200 IM (2:02.89) as well as a 10th place finish in the 100 free (50.44).

    Kavanagh’s Best SCY Times Are:

    200 free: 1:47.84 100 free: 50.44 200 back: 1:58.36 200 IM: 2:02.89

The Notre Dame women finished 11th out of 15 teams at the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships with 366 points. Diver Grace Courtney led the team with 48 individual points while swimmer Carli Cronk was the 2nd highest individual scorer with 38 points. Cronk was highlighted by a 4th place finish in the 200 fly (1:52.59).

Based on her best times, Kavanagh is not far off what it took to score in the 200 free as it took a 1:46.88 to final in the event at ACCs. Becky Rentz was the only finalist for Notre Dame in the event as she swam to a 19th place finish, touching in a 1:46.16. Rentz enters her sophomore season this fall so the two will overlap. It took a 48.91 to final in the 100 free and a 1:55.26 to final in the 200 back.

Kavanagh will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2031 along with Eleanor Geraghty, Meghan Bluethmann, Maris Williams, and Sarah Paisley Owen.
