Beat Auburn Beat Hunger will collect donations over the next few weeks for the “SEC Food Fight,” a competition against every other SEC school to collect the most nonperishable food donations.
Accepted donations include items such as microwaveable ramen, granola bars and other nonperishables. The donations go towards BamaCares, a new student food pantry for UA students facing food insecurity. Food items would preferably be ones that are geared towards students.
These items can be donated in barrels that will be located at various on and off-campus locations.
“Beat Auburn Beat Hunger will collect all available guest swipes and meal swipes,” said Sophia Reich, vice president of outreach for Beat Auburn Beat Hunger.
Since meal swipes expire at the end of each semester, students can donate their unused swipes rather than let them go to waste.
Beat Auburn Beat Hunger will accept donations until April 17.
