Years before he was an Olympic champion, Shaun White was just a kid with a dream — and a snowboard.
The three-time gold medalist snowboarder, 38, took to Instagram on Monday, April 7, to share an adorable throwback pic of himself as a kid standing in the snow, a Burton snowboard in his arms. His trademark red hair was short and messy in the snap, and he wore a navy jacket and puffy red mittens.

White's followers had plenty of guesses.
"Sugar mtn NC obv," one person wrote, while someone else suggested "Vail."
"This is adorable..you look like Howdy Doody…I’m going to say Squaw Valley…" another commenter chimed in.
Among the other guesses offered by White's fans were Tahoe, Aspen, and Brighton Ski Resort in Utah — but it's still not clear where the pic was taken.
When he's not reminiscing about his childhood, White is in the process of planning his wedding to Vampire Diaries alum Nina Dobrev — though the actress recently told E! Newsthat the couple has a long way to go when it comes to getting ready for the ceremony.
“We’re just enjoying being engaged at this point and being in that sort of phase because a lot of your life is — you have a boyfriend for half of your life and then you have a husband for half of your life but the fiancé period is very short," Dobrev explained, adding, “I really want to enjoy it and not rush that process.”
White and Dobrev, 36, announced their engagement in October 2024. They started dating in 2019.
