Sectarian violence erupted on March6, marking the worst such clashes since Hayat Tahrir al-Sham-led (HTS) factionsousted Bashar al-Assad’s regime. The Syrian Observatory for HumanRights reported that Syrian security forces and allies carried out "fieldexecutions," killing around 1,700 civilians, with most killings occurringon March 7 and 8.
In response, transitional SyrianPresident Ahmed Al-Sharaa pledged to hold all those involved in “civilianbloodshed" accountable and formed an independent committee to investigatethe events, though its findings have yet to be released.
