Seven people have been arrested, including three juveniles, after a monthlong investigation by Oakland Police Department led to search warrants, and the recovery of at least ten firearms, according to a release from the department on Friday.
“The case is now with the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for review and potential charges,” OPD spokesperson Paul Chambers said in the press release. The police allege the people arrested were involved in “homicide, shootings, armed street robberies, burglaries, and escape from a juvenile facility,” according to the release.
The investigation originated in response to an armed carjacking on January 30 in East Oakland, but officials said they believe the same individuals were involved with other crimes, as recently as this week.
OPD’s Ceasefire Section worked with OPD’s Special Resources Section (SRS), Criminal Investigation Division (CID), the U.S. Marshals Task Force, the ATF, Task Force Officers, Antioch Police, Pittsburg Police, and Merced Police to serve the warrants around the Bay Area.
