Gage Workman Cranks the Cubs’ First Home Run of the Spring

Rule 5 pick Gage Workman has only a slim chance of making the Chicago Cubs’ Opening Day roster. It’d require him leaping straight from Double-A to the big leagues, and fitting onto a bench that may have just one available spot after Justin Turner, Jon Berti, and Carson Kelly.

But, Workman is a superlative infield glove man, and has tremendous power. He ditched switch-hitting last year, cut down on his strikeouts, and really put up monster numbers at Double-A. So you never know what he might become. The Cubs drafted him for a reason, after all.
