The Chicago Bears coaching staff under new head coach Ben Johnson has been made officially official.
And just in time to head down to Indianapolis for next week’s NFL Scouting Combine.
This is what the new Bears head coach had to say about the staff:
“We are excited to add high-quality, hard-working coaches to our staff,” Johnson said via the team’s official website. “Along with a desire to grow our team and develop our players collectively, our coaching staff is comprised of individuals who are proud to represent the Chicago Bears and our fans. We look forward to the work ahead.”
OK, let’s meet some new coaches!
2025 Chicago Bears Coaching Staff
These are the coaches who will be working for Ben Johnson in 2025.
COORDINATORS
Dennis Allen, Defensive Coordinator Declan Doyle, Offensive Coordinator Richard Hightower, Special Teams CoordinatorWe’ve known about the coordinators for a while. But now that it is officially official, I can share this thought that I’ve been sitting on for a minute.
I like the makeup of this trio. Dennis Allen will essentially serve as the head coach of the defense. Allen’s head coaching career might not have gone well, but his work as a defensive play-caller has been quality throughout the years. Richard Hightower hanging around for another year seems like a testament to the body of work he has amassed over the years. His players speak highly of him. Declan Doyle is a newbie, but the Bears could be early on the hype train here.
OFFENSIVE COACHES
Antwaan Randle El, Assistant Head Coach / Wide Receivers Matt Aponte, Offensive Quality Control J.T. Barrett, Quarterbacks Eric Bieniemy, Running Backs Zach Cable, Offensive Quality Control Kyle DeVan, Assistant Offensive Line Jim Dray, Tight Ends Robbie Picazo, Offensive Assistant, Quarterbacks / Wide Receivers Dan Roushar, Offensive Line Press Taylor, Pass Game CoordinatorThis is an interesting mix of offensive coaches. Jim Dray is the only positional coach holdover from the previous staff, which suggests that Ben Johnson doesn’t see coaching as the thing that led to the downturn in Cole Kmet’s production last season. I am curious to see how Eric Bieniemy’s career arc plays out moving forward after getting a fresh start in a new NFL city.

Anthony Blevins, Assistant Special Teams Jeremy Garrett, Defensive Line Matt Giordano, Assistant Defensive Backs / Safeties Al Harris, Pass Game Coordinator / Defensive Backs Bill Johnson, Senior Defensive Assistant / Defensive Line Kevin Koch, Assistant Linebackers Cannon Matthews, Defensive Assistant / Nickels Kenny Norton III, Defensive Quality Control Richard Smith, LinebackersIt might take some time to get used to seeing Al Harris in Bears colors after watching him make plays against Chicago’s quarterbacks over the years. But if he can rub off on Tyrique Stevenson, then we’ll all be better for his arrival in Chicago.

Pierre Ngo, Head Strength and Conditioning Noble Landry, Assistant Strength and Conditioning Allison Haley, Assistant Strength and Conditioning Justin Rudd, Senior Director of Coaching Operations Chavis Cook, Manager of Coaching Administration Harrison Freid, Director of Research and AnalysisThe Bears have a new look atop the strength and conditioning staff. Injuries have been problematic for Chicago. So while I am unsure if shaking up the chain of command will lead to better days ahead, I am 100 percent on board with the idea of trying something new with the hope that change happens as a result.
The Ben Johnson era is here. Bears fans have been waiting for a breath of fresh air. And now, they have it. We’re onto the rest of the NFL offseason.
