The Manchester United conveyor belt of academy talent continues to churn out elite talent, and although the club are resigned to losing the highly-rated JJ Gabriel in the coming weeks, there are still plenty of other young talents coming through.

Who is Man United wonderkid Jaume Camacho?

Man United fans may be scarred by how close ‘Camacho' is to ‘Garnacho', but the former's playing style is not remotely comparable to that of the latter. Fans will be hoping his attitude bears no resemblance, too.

Camacho’s route to Carrington has included experience at City Football Schools in the UAE and the Manchester City academy before he moved across Manchester to join United. He joined United’s 2026 scholarship intake and has progressed into the U18 setup. He made two U18 league appearances last season, against Burnley and Sunderland, before establishing himself more prominently with the new scholarship group.

In the opening weeks of the 2026/27 season, Camacho has featured for both United’s U18s and U19s. His most notable early-season performance was against Charlton on 25 August, when he scored United’s opening goal in a 3–0 victory.

Jaume Camacho style of play

Camacho is a versastile midfielder player, who is also capable of filling in at right-back, something that should help his chances of breaking into the first-team squad ahead of his peers.

As we have seen in recent years, many academy midfielders have been transformed into full-backs at first-team level, with Lewis Myles-Skelly and Nico O'Reilly the two standout examples.

As a midfielder, Camacho's style is that of a classic Spanish midfielder. He is comfortable receiving the ball under pressure and is technically secure. He has started to add goals to his game this season, which is perhaps the next natural evolution.

He only turned 17 at the beginning of October, so he does have some growing up to do physically, but this is applicable to every 16/17 year old in the country.

Jaume Camacho contract status

Camacho is currently contracted to Manchester United as part of the club’s 2026 academy scholarship intake. The Spaniard is therefore not currently listed as a first-team professional on a long-term senior contract; he is registered with United just for the 2026/27 season.

Should he continue to impress, the club will look to tie him down to a professional contract sooner rather than later.
