POLICE REPORTS

The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymously report crime information, call 707-463-6205.

SHOPLIFTER: Caller at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley reported at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 12 that someone had stolen from the gift shop. An officer responded and cited the person for theft.

    PANHANDLER: Caller at the intersection of Airport Park Boulevard and Talmage Road reported at 11:34 a.m. Feb. 12 that someone was panhandling on the center divide. An officer responded and the person was “warned to move on.”

    TRESPASS: Caller in the 100 block of Talmage Road reported at 6:50 p.m. Feb. 12 that someone was trespassing. An officer responded and reported that the person was leaving upon request. When the person returned and reportedly refused to leave again, the officer arrested a 66-year-old Ukiah woman for violating her probation and trespassing. She was booked into Mendocino County Jail. The following day at 7:31 p.m., the same woman was arrested again on the same charges and booked into county jail.

    SHOTS FIRED: Caller in the 500 block of Ford Street reported at 3:20 a.m. Feb. 13 hearing shots fired. An officer responded and reported finding nothing of concern.

    THEFT: Caller at the intersection of Talmage Road and Airport Park Boulevard reported at 8:07 a.m. Feb. 13 that a theft had occurred. An officer responded and arrested a 35-year-old Redwood Valley man for theft. He was cited and released.

    ASSAULT: Caller at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley reported at 12:13 a.m. Feb. 14 that a patient had assaulted staff. An officer responded and took a report.

    FIGHT: 911 caller in the 800 block of North State Street at 9:01 a.m. Feb. 14 was described as a “Spanish speaking male yelling.” An officer responded and reported that the incident was a “dispute over employment and (that the) parties were counseled.”

    SHOPLIFTERS: Caller at Safeway on South State Street reported at 2:16 p.m. Feb. 14 that two people had stolen alcohol. No further action was noted.

    PERSON WALKING INTO TRAFFIC: Caller at Walmart on Airport Park Boulevard reported at 3:04 p.m. Feb. 14 that someone was walking in and out of traffic. An officer responded, contacted the person and reported that they would be “going home.”

    DEATH: An officer responded to the 500 block of Stella Drive at 3:21 p.m. Feb. 14 and took a report of a death.

    GOING THROUGH GARBAGE: Caller in the 800 block of South Orchard Avenue reported at 8:48 p.m. Feb. 14 that someone was “going through the garbage.” An officer responded and reported that the person “moved along upon request.”

    The following were compiled from reports prepared by the UPD regarding calls handled by the Fort Bragg Police Department.

    DUI: An officer stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of West Alder Street at 5:14 p.m. Feb. 14 and arrested Levi Barnett, 36, of Fort Bragg, on suspicion of driving under the influence. The driver was cited and released.

    Those arrested by law enforcement officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the information is in error should contact the appropriate agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcement agencies are reported by the newspaper. The Daily Journal makes no exceptions.

    Feb. 16 edition: Sunday’s front page article titled “Chocolate Town” misstated David Post’s position with Ukiah Unified School District. He is the district’s only full time elementary school music teacher.
