With just two weeks until the first conference tournaments begin, the college basketball season is quickly becoming a sprint to March — and the SEC is winning.
The SEC claimed four of the top five spots in last week’s AP Top 25 and each of the top four spots in last week’s Coaches Poll. Did the conference do enough to sustain those rankings entering the new week?
A Tennessee loss to Kentucky risks knocking the Volunteers out of their top-five slot, while Saturday’s battle between Auburn and Alabama left no doubt about the current No. 1 team in the nation with the Tigers outlasting the Tide.
Elsewhere, St. John’s could drop out of the top 10 after a streak-breaking loss to Villanova, perhaps offset by a win over Creighton, while Kansas is at risk of tumbling all the way out after a loss at Utah.
