A FRUSTRATED shopper has called out BJ’s Wholesale Club after they couldn’t find essential groceries this month.
They fumed the warehouse retailer is now falling behind competitors because of the supposed lack of options.
“Oh my gosh, @BJsWholesale,” the customer, Ev Taylor, wrote in a February 6 post.
“I shopped today at Warrensville, Ohio, for organic guacamole, organic hummus, organic graham crackers, and Skipjack tuna, and you had none of those things.”
“You are so disappointing and how do you expect to compete with Costco?” Ev asked.
BJ’s responded swiftly, promising to consider the complaint and whether it would add the products to shelves in the future.
“Hi. Thank you for bringing this to our attention,” the retailer replied.
“We will take this as a product suggestion and pass it along to our team.”
Ev thanked BJ’s and noted that despite her irritation, she does “like” shopping at her local store.
“Our members are our biggest pillar of support,” BJ’s commented back.
“We are always happy to receive suggestions and feedback from our members.”
It also wouldn’t be the first time BJ’s has seen backlash and critique from members in the New Year.
BJ’s, like Costco and Sam’s Club, requires a membership to shop and offers shoppers merchandise in bulk at lower costs.
COST CONCERNS
Even so, some BJ’s members have recently claimed the retailer isn’t honoring its money-saving promise.
A particularly peeved customer said they spotted several price tags that were “ridiculous,” including those for bread.
“BJ’s is a big ripoff!” a member exclaimed in a separate X post in January.

BJ’S RESPONSE
Despite the claims, BJ’s responded and defended its pricing policy.
“We would like to clarify that our products are always priced lower than regular prices at other stores,” the retailer fired back.
“Our prices are consistently low and can occasionally drop even lower with coupon or rebate offers.”
BJ’s also noted that its members save 25% compared to other non-membership-based retail giants.
The retailer was also left defending its pricing again with another shopper this month who said it’s been “causing members to leave the club.”
It also followed Costco’s lead in November and increased membership rates.
