The body in charge, Austin Transit Partnership (ATP), wants work on a 10-mile route with 15 stations to start in 2027.
Teams have until 19 March to express their interest through the project’s vendor portal.
The project involves designing and building the route, tracks, systems, stations, bridges, traffic signals, utilities, drainage structures and streetscapes.
The city wants the railway open for 2033.
ATP said it would use a “progressive design-build delivery model” that encourages collaboration.
It will prioritise constructability keep the city moving during construction.
ATP will host a networking event on 26 February to connect small firms with prime contractors.
