PARAMOUNT – A 34-year-old suspect fatally shot by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies in Paramount was identified Monday.
The shooting occurred at 12:15 a.m. Thursday in the parking lot of the Paramount sheriff’s substation in 15000 block of Paramount Boulevard, investigators previously said.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
He was later identified by the county Office of Medical Examiner as Juan Alvarez.
Last week, investigators said the suspect was armed with a machete and was shot when he approached a deputy while disregarding commands to drop the weapon.
