Nancy Kerrigan is speaking out about the tragic deaths of several members of the figure skating community in a devastating plane crash.
Among the victims of the fatal aircraft collision over the Potomac River near Washington, D.C., were several professional figure skaters and six members from the Skating Club of Boston, where Kerrigan is an alumnus.

The former Olympian—who said she stayed up all night watching the news about the devastating crash—made a rare public appearance during a press conference on Thursday, Jan. 30, where she paid tribute to those who lost their lives.
"I'm not sure how to process it," Kerrigan said through tears in a video posted online by Boston 25 News.
Between sobs, Kerrigan continued, "It was a shock...and then when you find out you know some of the people on the plane it's even a bigger blow."
Kerrigan, a native of Stoneham, Mass., grieved the deaths of two teenage skaters, Spencer Lane and Jinna Hahn, both reportedly on the flight with their mothers. Two coaches from the Skating Club of Boston were also on the plane.

— Boston 25 News (@boston25) January 30, 2025"We just wish them well," Kerrigan said about the families of the victims, including 64 people aboard the American Airlines passenger jet and the three soldiers on the Army Black Hawk helicopter.
"I just feel for the athletes, the skaters and their families...anyone that was on that plane, not just the skaters, because it's just such a tragic event and we've been through tragedies before as Americans, as people, and we are strong," Kerrigan continued, her voice breaking.
During the emotional appearance, Kerrigan also implored viewers, "Tell people around you that you love them."
