(KRON) -- The Oakland Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday morning. The shooting, police said, occurred just after 7 a.m. in the 1200 block of 49th Avenue.
Officers were dispatched after a ShotSpotter activation. At the scene, officers located a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to a hospital where they later died.
OPD Homicide Division investigators responded to the scene to conduct a follow-up investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Officials have not released the name of the victim at this time.
