Ten Labour MPs backed an attempt to reverse the government decision no to offer compensation for so-called Waspi women.
A proposed law seeking to set out establish a compensation scheme for the group of women, who were impacted by changes to the state pension age, cleared its first Commons hurdle.
The Bill, tabled by SNP Westminster leader Stephen Flynn, will now reach its second reading in March – although it is unlikely to go further.
The ten Labour MPs voted for the proposed law are: Jonathan Brash, Julia Buckley, Neil Duncan-Jordan, Chris Hinchliff, Terry Jermy, Brian Leishman, Emma Lewell-Buck, Melanie Onn, Jon Trickett and Steve Witherden.
The vote was viewed as a symbolic show of support for the compensation proposal, with the bill unlikely to become law without government support.
The Government last month ruled out a compensation package despite Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Chancellor Rachel Reeves being among the senior ministers to support the Women Against State Pension Inequality (Waspi) campaign when Labour was in opposition.
