Nearly 4,000 without power in region on Thursday ahead of another day of high heat

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Nearly 4,000 homes across Monroe, Wayne, and Ontario counties are without power on Thursday morning ahead of a third straight day of temperatures in the 90s.

There were also hundreds of power outages yesterday after thunderstorms, leaving some people without air conditioning amid the heat. RG&E says its crews are on standby throughout this week to respond to power outages that could leave people vulnerable.

    For Thursday, RG&E’s outage tracker lists over 3,000 outages in Monroe County and over 500 in Wayne County as of 5 a.m. You can see the latest numbers here. There are also some outages for National Grid customers in Orleans County and NSYEG customers in Ontario County.

    Earlier in the morning, over 5,000 homes lost power in the region. The outages come after some localized overnight storms, with viewers sending us photos of the damage. One photo shows a tree that fell on a wire on University Avenue in Rochester. If you have any photos of storm damage that you would like to share, email them to [email protected]
