A 19-year-old suburban resident has been arrested and charged after he allegedly caused a wrong-way crash on Chicago’s Near North Side and tried to flee the scene.

According to authorities, the teen was behind the wheel in the 800 block of North Clark Street just before 1:30 a.m. Monday and was attempting to drive the wrong direction on the roadway.

    The teen then allegedly drove into another vehicle, injuring a 40-year-old man.

    Police said the suspect then allegedly tried to flee the scene, but was quickly taken into custody a short time later.

    The teen, identified as a 19-year-old Lake in the Hills resident, was charged with felony counts of aggravated reckless driving that caused bodily harm and leaving the scene of an accident, police said.

    He was also charged with resisting arrest and reckless conduct in the case.

    He will face a detention hearing on Thursday.
