CAIRO, Jan 20 (MENA) – Personal Representative of President Abdel Fattah al Sisi to the G20 and BRICS and Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Ragy al-Etreby said Egypt hopes the G7 will adopt a broader perspective on international economic issues, amid successive and varied challenges facing developing countries.
Etreby made the remarks during his talks with Alexandre Lévêque, the assistant deputy minister for Europe, Arctic, Middle East and Maghreb at the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The pair discussed cooperation between Egypt and Canada in priority international economic issues on the G7 agenda, especially as Canada currently holds the rotating presidency of the group of the world’s advanced economies for 2025.
The president’s personal representative stated that Egypt looks forward to seeing the G7 play a more effective role in cooperation with developing nations to promote efforts aimed at addressing the imbalances in the global economy, reforming multilateral financial and trade structures and achieving a breakthrough in mobilizing financing for development.
For his part, the Canadian deputy foreign minister said his country aspires to have closer coordination and consultation with Egypt to put forward constructive and purposeful proposals to tackles these issues.
The two sides agreed on the importance of continuing cooperation between Egypt and Canada within the framework of the G20 meetings. (MENA)
