A Scottish man has been killed while serving on the frontline with the Ukrainian army, his family have said.
Jordan Maclachlan, 26, from Ardnamurchan in the Scottish Highlands, died on Friday while serving as a medic with the Ukrainian army, they said.
In a statement to the BBC, his family said: “Jordan always believed that he was making a difference and we are all so proud of him helping others.”
“We are waiting for further information from the Foreign Office as information is very limited.
“Jordan was a fun-loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and a friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.”
A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson told the broadcaster: “We are supporting the family of a British man who died in Ukraine and are in contact with the local authorities.”
His death comes months after a former community care worker from Cornwall who volunteered to fight for Ukraine was killed in fighting on the frontline.
Callum Tindal-Draper, 22, from Gunnislake, died on 5 November 2024 while defending an observation post with the foreign volunteer platoon, his mother said at the time.
Caroline Tindal added that his platoon described him as a “hero” and “as brave as they come”, saying that he died fighting until he could no longer hold off the Russian enemy.
His father, Steven Draper, said: “We begged and begged and begged him not to go. But Callum said, ‘Dad, I’m not frightened of bullies and what’s going on in Ukraine is awful and someone needs to stand up for these people’.”
