Multiple “aerial targets” have been shot down overnight, Vyachslav Gladkov said
Ukraine has carried out an attack on Russia’s Belgorod region on Christmas Eve, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said in the early hours of Tuesday.
“Our air defenses have been activated in Belgorod and [the surrounding] region. Several aerial targets have been shot down,” Gladkov wrote on his Telegram channel. He added that there are no casualties.
The governor said that a car and two houses were damaged by shrapnel in the villages of Tavrovo.
According to Telegram news channel SHOT, residents of Belgorod and the Shebekino area, which borders Ukraine, heard more than 10 “powerful explosions” at around 10 pm local time.
The channel cited “early reports” as saying that Ukraine “attempted to use cluster munitions.” An attack with cluster munitions has not been confirmed by officials as of yet.
